MEET THE COACHES
STEVE VAN DYNE
My love for CrossFit has grown exponentially over the past two years. When I started, I was just looking for a new workout regime. CrossFit has given me what I have been looking for since finishing my swimming career at the University of North Dakota. Even better, it has given my daughters more. It has taught them to be even more confident in who they are and that being strong is also very beautiful. I look forward to diving even deeper into the CrossFit world and being able to help others achieve their fitness goals.
Steve brings more than 25 years experience working as a swim coach with anyone from young kids to high school teams, even working with a paralympic swimmer that he coached all the way up to the Olympics. He also brings over 20 years experience as a Phy Ed teacher.
After almost 10 years of knowing about CrossFit, and having known several people who were part of this community, I decided to walk through the doors of a CrossFit gym in September 2017. I had been an avid "gym rat" for more than 20 years, but that day I must admit that I was a bit intimidated. I had heard all of the stories of insanely hard workouts, crazy movements that I never thought I could do, and good 'ole "Pukey the Clown"….. I had no idea of how it was going to go and what condition I would be in when they rolled me out the door one hour later!
What I found was something much more than my pre-conceived notions - I found a community of people just like me who were trying each and every day to challenge themselves to be better. I found friends that would challenge me yet lift me up in the toughest of workouts. What I found was a better me! I learned new skills, tried things I had not done since middle school and learned that I can push myself further than I thought possible. These daily challenges and accomplishments are making me a better athlete inside the gym, and a better human outside of the gym.
After a few years, I decided to seek out my CF-L1 certification. I now enjoy working with all of the athletes in the gym as much (if not more) than working out each day. I love helping athletes learn new skills, accomplish new things, and become a better version of themselves each and every day!
